Old Correspondence Backup

If you have recently migrated to Sooma’s email solution then you are experiencing the new paradigm of having access to your entire inbox across all the devices you use (cell phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc.) and wishing that the old messages you have in the old Outlook (downloaded still by the older POP3 protocol) would also become available on your cell phone.

The good news is that this is possible. We can migrate all your mail history to the new mailbox. All you have to do is make a backup and send it to us. Your support assistant will be happy to receive those backups and inject all those messages into your new mailbox.

This article explains the procedure for receiving such backup files (.pst generated by Outlook) that can reach dimensions of many tens of Giga-bytes.

1. Starting the backup replacement process

Contact us to let us know that you wish to have access to your old messages on the new service. The support assistant will create an area to receive the large files (by default an area with 2TB of available storage will be created with capacity to receive files of any size. You will receive a message with a link and a password to access this storage space.

2. Make backups of old correspondence

The procedure for generating a backup file varies depending on the version of Outlook (or other mail management application) you are using. If you have difficulty generating the backup, contact support and indicate the mail management application you use. You will receive detailed instructions to help you.

3. Finally, send us the backup files

  1. Click on the link that you received and enter the password that was delivered to you by e-mail
  2. Click the icon with the arrow inside the cloud
  3. Click the “Choose files +” button and choose the files
  4. Wait for the files to be transferred
