Multiple domains and domain aliases

Independent domains

A company can have several domains in the same account (for example company.com and brand.com), each with its own mailboxes. Each domain appears under Domains and is managed separately. To add a new domain, open a ticket.

Domain alias

A domain alias makes another domain deliver into the same mailboxes. With company.eu as an alias of company.com, a message to anna@company.eu arrives in the anna@company.com mailbox, without having to create anything per user.

It is useful when the company has the same name under several extensions (.com, .eu, .co.uk) or has changed domain and wants to keep receiving on the old one.

Create a domain alias

  1. Open the main domain and, under Aliases, click New domain alias.
  2. In Alias domain name, type the additional domain.
  3. Active — True.
  4. DKIM enabled — True, so that messages sent with that domain are signed.
  5. Click New.
  6. Set up the MX and SPF records in the additional domain's DNS as well. Without them, mail for that domain does not reach Sooma.

For users to be able to send from the additional domain's address, they need an identity with that address. See Identities and aliases.
