I can't send

In webmail

  • An error appears when sending: read the message. The most common causes are a mistyped recipient address or an attachment over the limit (75 MB). See Quotas and limits.
  • The message stays in Drafts: it was never sent. Open the draft and send it again.
  • The message goes out but comes back with an error: it is a bounce from the receiving server. See Bounced message.

In an app (Outlook, phone, Thunderbird)

Check the outgoing server settings:

Setting Value
Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.sooma.com
Port and encryption 587 with STARTTLS, or 465 with SSL/TLS
Authentication Required, with the full email address and the same password

Common errors:

  • "Relay access denied" / "Relaying not allowed": the app is not authenticating when sending. Enable "My outgoing server requires authentication" and use the same credentials as for incoming mail.
  • The app cannot connect to the outgoing server: port 587 or 465 may be blocked by the firewall or the network operator. Try the other port or another network (for example your phone's mobile data).
  • Certificate error: the server must be mail.sooma.com, not mail.company.com. See Connection errors.
  • Sending through your internet provider's server (for example smtp.provider.com): change it to mail.sooma.com. Messages sent through other servers may be rejected by recipients for failing SPF and DMARC.
